This week in Gacha (May 25 to 31, 2026)
The week Lizzo posted furry Honkai: Star Rail fan art, and Genshin Impact 2 got its first substantial leaks (sort of).

This week in Gacha news brought us some potential information on Genshin Impact 2, the full schedule for Wuthering Waves’ Cyberpunk: Edgerunners collaboration, and Lizzo posting some furry Honkai: Star Rail fan art on social media. Because it’s 2026 and the world doesn’t make sense anymore.

Genshin Impact 2 is real, except no it isn’t, but actually yeah of course it is
Ah Genshin Impact leakers, always there when you need them for banner reruns, never there when you require additional clarification on the sequel to the most popular gacha of all time. Here’s the complete timeline of the misunderstanding that might actually not be a misunderstanding at all:
- Team Lunar-Mew thought kassaperskaya had leaked some pretty huge information on Genshin Impact 2, so they passed that information on to us which included the release year, a region, game engine details, and a big new playable character (full potentially spoilerific details here).
- Team Lunar-Mew pointed out that Kassaperskaya correctly leaked the new outfit for the Traveler, and has been right about reruns in the past, so this leak seemed reliable.
- Everybody freaks out.
- Turns out Team Lunar-Mew got confused, as kassaperskaya just reposted a leak they saw from “some Chinese guy who told the truth about 6.7” (this is a very rough translation of kassaperskaya’s Russian wording, but you get the idea—it’s not their leak).
- Team Lunar-Mew strikes out the Genshin 2 info and informs everyone of the mistake.
- Then leaker HXG comments on the leak as “Not fully correct” with no clarifying details.
- Everybody is confused.
So the information is a leak, just not from the usual reliable sources. And HXG isn’t offering any more than “Not fully correct” right now, so that’s all we have to go on. Except the fact that Genshin Impact 2 / Part 2 is most definitely real, and that the story won’t stop at Snezhnaya. We don’t need any leakers to tell us that HoYo likes making a bunch of money, and it already confirmed that Khaenri’ah is still to come as part of the ‘Teyvat Chapter’ storyline teaser video, all the way back in 2020.
What exactly comes after the Teyvat Chapter we’ll just have to wait and see. Or, get spoiled by leakers. Yeah, that sounds more likely, actually.
Wuthering Waves x Cyberpunk: Edgerunners coming June 8
Wuthering Waves version 3.4 launches June 8, as does the gacha’s big collaboration with the anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Not only do Lucy and Rebecca—two characters from the anime—get their own special banner types, but there’s also a permanent story “developed as an official continuation” of Lucy’s journey following the events of the anime. Pretty big news for fans of the anime (hi, that would be me.) You can read our full breakdown of WuWa’s 3.4 update here. Which includes the news of that annoying new banner currency you might have heard about.
Fate/Grand Order Arc 3 is real (or is it..?)
Whether it’s the beginning of a brand new third Arc, or more of a 2.5 / epilogue situation, Fate/Grand Order has teased its upcoming ‘One Second After Time’ update via a new trailer. It’s coming out on June 3 in Japan. A fan translated edit is embedded above, but you can check out the original trailer here.
HoYoverse plans to invest $14.7 billion into AI
HoYoverse CEO Liu Wei (AKA Da Wei) has revealed that miHoYo will invest up to 100 billion yuan ($14.7 billion USD) into Artificial Intelligence over the next three years, as it wants to move on from investing in external AI ventures like MiniMax to invest in its own internal AI tools. Speaking at a private AI large-scale model technology sharing session hosted by miHoYo in Beijing, Da Wei said that even if HoYo doesn’t succeed in the end that “we will accept it and treat it as a big firework display”. Those are some expensive Catherine wheels.
It’s tempting to think this kind of money is just a drop in the ocean for a company that’s estimated to make $6 billion USD a year, but HoYo has operating costs just like any other developer and publisher. And with at least nine games in development, and four getting updates every six weeks, you bet those operating costs are steep. So, yeah, it’s a gamble for HoYo. With “fireworks” greeting them at the end like an unfortunate Qiqi pull if their big bet doesn’t pay off.
Lizzo shares furry Honkai: Star Rail fan art as ‘variant’ album cover
I could try summing this up for you, but if I had to research and write the full story, you have to suffer through reading it. Here’s our full story on Lizzo x furry Honkai: Star Rail fan art, but fair warning: you’re never going to look at Hoolay the same ever again.
Sandrone drip marketing revealed for Genshin Impact

Drip marketing isn’t usually that big of a deal, but Sandrone’s out here winning the hearts of Genshin Impact’s Japanese fanbase, with over 300 thousand likes on the game’s Japanese X account. That places her up there with the likes of Arlecchino, beating Skirk, Furina, and Sandrone’s girlfriend dear friend Columbina. Pretty good for a character who fans apparently don’t like the redesign of. Now imagine that drip marketing included Pulonia and a longer skirt—absolute scenes. If you want to see what all the fuss is about, here’s Sandrone’s drip marketing in all its glory.
The EoS zone
There’s been so many end of service announcements and final farewells recently that I think they need their own dedicated section. So here’s what we have in the EoS zone this week:
- Phantom of the Kill -Alternative Imitation- has announced it will end service on July 30, 2026 two years after Phantom of the Kill’s EoS. Can’t say this is a surprise, considering Alternative Imitation was an NFT blockchain game. Somehow lasted longer than Tribe Nine, though—the best gacha game that should have never been a gacha game.
- War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius has ended service for good as of May 28, 2026 now that the Japanese servers are shut down. The Global servers ended all the way back in May, 2025. There’s a official memorial movie longer than most funerals, if you’re interested in seeing what the game was all about, or just commiserating with fellow fans in the comments.
New Characters this week
- May 27 – Starlight Billy, Zenless Zone Zero
- May 28 – Prika, Goddess of Victory: Nikke
- May 28 – Lorentz Butterfly, Reverse: 1999
Did you get any of them?
I decided to skip Starlight Billy on account of my meager 20 Polychrome savings, and not having played Zenless Zone Zero since 2.0. I’ll return, Billy, promise. Just give me time to get caught up with… every gacha I’ve ever played. If we could just put a pause on new, gigantic open-world gachas releasing this year, that’d be great.
Next week in Gacha (June 1 – 7)

All of these dates are for the Global version of each game, unless stated otherwise.
- June 1 – Mortenax Blade debuts in Honkai: Star Rail
- June 1 – Seven Deadly Sins Origin 1.5 livestream
- June 3 – Fate/Grand Order ‘One Second After Time’ releases (Japan)
- June 3 – Lacrimosa debuts in Neverness to Everness
- June 4 – Yukari Takeba debuts in Persona 5: Phantom X
- June 4 – Sweep Tosho debuts in Umamusume: Pretty Derby
- June 5 – Mi Fu debuts in Arknights: Endfield
- June 5 – Violet debuts in Heaven Burns Red (Japan)
- June 6 – Zenless Zone Zero 3.0 livestream
- June 6 – Illusion Connect: Re releases
And although it’s not part of this week’s schedule, don’t forget the Wuthering Waves 3.4 update is on a Monday this time. Meaning you can get your Cyberpunk kicks from June 8 onwards.
See you next week!
