This week in Gacha (June 29 to July 5, 2026)
Valko is cancelled, Mickey Mouse is an anime boy, and somehow Brave Frontier returns (again).

This week in Gacha brought us Valko’s cancellation before he even debuted in Love and Deepspace, miHoYo’s first Switch game, a bunch of new game announcements, and Mickey Mouse as an anime boy. All this and more below, plus the usual dates to look out for next week at the end of the article.

Love and Deepspace cancels new love interest Valko
In a remarkable move to appease angry players threatening to quit the game or stop spending money, Love and Deepspace has canceled the launch and “any further development” of new wolf love interest Valko (Ao Yin in Chinese) and has promised that no additional love interests will be introduced in future content plans. He was only revealed on June 22, but Valko caused quite a stir with Chinese players, with an overwhelmingly negative reaction to his debut trailer on Weibo resulting in Love and Deepspace trending in Weibo’s top five stories, and Beijing News even reporting on the situation.
You can read more about Valko getting the boot from Love and Deepspace here. In the meantime, here’s some memes about the situation to tie you over while developer Papergames remains radio silent after cancelling Valko.
Disney Sparklink Stars turns Mickey Mouse, Goofy, Donald Duck, and Chip into otome bait

Disney Sparklink Stars is currently revealing one of its anime-ified Disney mascot characters per day on its official Japanese X account. So far, we’ve received key art, a silly name change, and voice actor reveals for: Mickey Mouse, Goofy, Donald Duck, and Chip (of Chip ‘n’ Dale fame). There’s still one more anthropomorphic anime boy to be revealed during this campaign, so now you have something to look forward to / be flabbergasted by on Monday.
Persona 5: The Phantom X collab with Persona 3 Portable announced, female protagonist confirmed

As part of its “Emergency Broadcast” livestream, Persona 5: The Phantom X revealed a future collaboration with Persona 3 Portable early, showing off a silhouette of P3P’s female protagonist (Kotone Shiomi) and promising more P3P characters to come. A very brief tease also mentioned that the developers would like to see a collab with Persona 4 Revival in the future, but nothing was officially confirmed.
This “Emergency” livestream was created to address players disappointed by the underwhelming Hatsune Miku collab, as she was released during the game’s anniversary patch with almost no story to go alongside her debut. The developers spent the first eight minutes apologising for this, and combat issues with Miku, before moving on to the collab news and promising that P5PX would continue to get original characters and significant main story updates.
Looks like Petit Planet is coming to Switch 2
Thanks to Uncle ESRB, it’s basically confirmed that Petit Planet, miHoYo’s legally distinct Animal Crossing-style life sim, is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2—joining its already announced PC and Mobile versions. I know we all want to make fun of HoYo for never releasing that Genshin Impact Switch port we were promised six years ago, but I will abstain for now and point you in the direction of that “E for Everyone” rating in conjunction with the “In-Game Purchases (Includes Random Items)” descriptor. A rating not likely to be achieved in Europe with its new loot box laws.
Monster Hunter Outlanders third beta starts August 7
Monster Hunter Outlanders is starting its third closed beta on August 7, 2026. This closed beta test is only available on Mobile, and you can sign-up for the chance to be picked via the game’s official website. Recruitment for the beta ends on July 24, and 20 people can also win access by taking part in a social media campaign. This third beta will feature new “radiant” monsters, additional hunters not seen in the second beta held in May 2026, and the “implementation of improvements” outlined in the optimization plan shared following the previous test.
miHoYo’s Varsapura gets its first beta soon
Seven months after developer miHiYo revealed 31 minutes of early footage to promote the game’s job listings, Varsapura is getting its first beta. But it’s only happening in China, and applications are already closed. A bummer, yeah, but that means we’ll be getting a lot more than 31 minutes of footage from beta testers soon enough.
Umamusume gets big update early, will add Auto-Training and 4K / 60FPS concerts
Even though the Global version of Umamusume: Pretty Derby is years behind its original Japanese release in terms of story and characters, it’s adding Auto-Training for when you’re offline, and 4K / 60FPS concerts for its Steam version, as part of Global’s 1.5 anniversary celebrations. A welcome surprise to Global players for sure!
Star Sailors launches globally, for real this time
Release date: June 30, 2026
Platforms: Mobile
Developer: Panana Studio
Publisher: Com2uS
Star Sailors is a fantasy turn-based RPG made by Korean developer Panana Studio, and it’s technically been out since February, but only for those in the United States and Indonesia. It’s now available globally (except China), sharing a server with previous regions, so you don’t need to restart if you’ve been playing in the United States or Indonesia.
Brave Frontier is coming back (again)
Pixel art RPG Brave Frontier is getting another revival via the newly announced Brave Frontier Origins. It’s scheduled for release in 2027, “primarily in Japan and North America”. All we’ve seen for now is key art (with some pixel characters underneath), a teaser website, and a very vague roadmap for when we’ll get more details:
- September 3 – Story (“Bonds that transcend time”)
- November 3 – Pixel Art (“Heroes Reimagined”)
- January 3 – Battle System (“The Return of Summoning”)
The original Brave Frontier had good innings for a gacha game, running from 2013 to 2022. Brave Frontier 2 released exclusively for Japan in 2018, stopped updating in 2019, and also ended service in 2022. Global got the spin-off Brave Frontier: The Last Summoner in 2018 instead. Then came Brave Frontier Verus, a digital trading card game, which… didn’t last long. It ran for just eight-months before heading off to EoS Land. Let’s hope Origins can at least beat that (and doesn’t feature any blockchain gimmicks this time).
Hololive Dreams launches July 26
Hololive’s rhythm RPG gacha, hololive Dreams, is coming July 26, 2026 for Mobile and PC (via Steam). You can pre-register to help unlock rewards for when the game launches, such as cosmetics and “Gacha Tickets”. Gee, I wonder what they’ll be used for?
Sanrio Kawaii Me Live revealed
Sanrio Kawaii Me Live! is the second title from Sanrio Games to be announced, but unlike Hello Kitty Party Land, this one is probably going to be a gacha if those brief glimpses of cosmetics are anything to go by. Sanrio Kawaii Me Live! is a rhythm Mobile game coming in 2027, and features iconic characters from the Sanrio gang, such as Hello Kitty, Kuromi, Cinnamoroll, and Pompompurin.
Aniimo is coming to Mac
Sounds like Aniimo is planning world domination at this point, as the creature-catcher RPG adds Mac to its list of platforms, joining Mobile, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC (via Steam and the Epic Games Store). Now it just needs a Switch 2 release to complete its Infinity Gauntlet and snap its fingers to wish Pokemon away.
The EoS zone
Here’s what we have in the EoS zone this week:
- Disney Pixel RPG will end service on September 30, 2026. This turn-based pixel game launched in October 2024 as part of a simultaneous Global and Japanese release. You can read its full EoS post here.
- Rebellion Gilgamesh will end service on July 30, 2026. This NSFW idle/strategy game launched October 2024 in Japan, and March 2025 via Erolabs for Global.
- As a reminder, Sugar Conflict is ending service on July 9 this week. It launched in January 2022 in Japan, and got an uncensored Global release in June 2025 on Nutaku.
The Gacha Wars, June 2026 Edition
Are you ready to see how much money your favorite and least favorite developers are making this month? Well, the estimated amount they’re fleecing from us, as this data from Sensor Tower (helpfully compiled by revenue.ennead.cc) is not a direct earnings report, and only takes into consideration Mobile revenue. So treat it as more of a general ranking as to how your mainstays are doing when compared to others, and not how much they’re actually earning.
Note – Inazuma Eleven Cross is missing from the table, but it seems to have done well in Japan. According to Japanese revenue estimates, it reportedly made $740,000 USD in the first few days, and $6.4 million USD in three weeks, which would place it at #24 in the table. BUT revenue.ennead and game-i don’t share the same methods for estimating earnings, so take that position with a big ‘ol grain of salt. That said, what we do know for sure is that Inazuma Eleven Cross had a great launch in Japan. It’ll be interesting to see if it can maintain this World Cup momentum once Football Mania has calmed down.
With the usual disclaimers out of the way, here’s the top 10 earning gachas for June, 2026:
| Rank Number | Game | Trend | May Revenue | June Revenue |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Love and Deepspace | Same place (#1) | $48,975,000 | $38,375,000 |
| 2 | Wuthering Waves | Up from #4 | $31,750,000 | $34,000,000 |
| 3 | Genshin Impact | Down from #2 | $41,655,000 | $33,340,000 |
| 4 | Honkai: Star Rail | Down from #3 | $38,765,000 | $28,455,000 |
| 5 | Naruto Mobile (China only) | Up from #7 | $27,500,000 | $24,750,000 |
| 6 | Monster Strike | Up from #11 | $14,500,000 | $16,400,000 |
| 7 | Dragon Ball Legends | Up from #12 | $13,500,000 | $15,600,000 |
| 8 | Fate/Grand Order | Up from #10 | $15,620,000 | $14,115,000 |
| 9 | Pokemon TCG Pocket (Global only) | Down from #8 | $25,000,000 | $14,000,000 |
| 10 | Neverness to Everness | Down from #9 | $23,575,000 | $13,950,000 |
The Valko drama happening at the tail end of June has helped Love and Deepspace maintain its No. 1 position, but I wonder where it will place next month? That’ll be the real test to see if developer Papergames can bounce back from the huge controversy it’s found itself in.
In other news, the fantastic Cyberpunk: Edgerunners crossover has propelled Wuthering Waves up into No. 2, continuing on from the huge success of its second anniversary patch. Plus, Neverness to Everness is still clinging on to the Top 10. I suspect it’ll stay there if its 1.2 update lives up to the hype. An entire game added to a game, with over 30 outfits? Yes please.
How did the new releases do?
| Rank Number | Game | June Revenue |
|---|---|---|
| 15 | Light and Night | $11,340,000 |
| 30 | Reign of Nightfall (China only) | $5,500,000 |
| 89 | DoT Abyss (Japan only) | $700,000 |
| 110 | Illusion Connect: Re | $400,000 |
| 160 | Star Sailors | $28,000 |
Reign of Nightfall (China) and Light and Night’s SEA launch are proving that otome and joseimuke gachas are worth investing in, even if Love and Deepspace is in a bad place right now (well, not financially, if the table above is anything to go by). That said, maybe these two only did so well because of the backlash against LADS, with some players looking for other gachas to play. Guess we’ll see how it all plays out next month, but competition is always good—so I hope they both continue to do well!
As for Star Sailors, it only had Global earning for one day, as it released on June 30, so we’ll have to wait until next month to see how well it truly did.
How did May’s releases do?
| Rank Number | Game | Trend | May Revenue | June Revenue |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 16 | Sword x Staff | Up from #39 | $4,000,000 | $11,000,000 |
| 156 | Last Origin R+ | Up from #157 | $38,000 | $37,000 |
| 167 | ALLfiring | Down from #156 | $40,000 | $15,000 |
Seems Sword x Staff continues to be a real hit for Global markets, just like it is in China and and other Asian markets. However, it’s not looking good for ALLfiring, as its Global launch was suspected to be one last push for revenue before it announces end of service. And with these numbers, I’m not holding out hope it’ll stick around for long.
New characters this week
- July 1 – Sandrone, Genshin Impact
- July 2 – Enigma, in Reverse: 1999
- July 2 – Cinderella: Crystal Wave, Goddess of Victory: Nikke
Did you get any of them?
Sandrone made me go damn close to hard pity, and then I got Citlali’s signature on the weapon banner instead of hers. I am mad, disappointed, and out of Primogems.
