Genshin Impact shows off Snezhnaya, with new third-person shooter gameplay

We saw protagonist Aether with a gun in the first Snezhnaya teaser, and he’s come back to fire that bad boy in the latest trailer, seen at the end of the version 6.7 livestream. The firepower doesn’t stop there, as he also lobs a grenade and fires a grenade launcher at those poor Snezhnayan enemies. Plus, we see Aether go all Gears of War, sliding to cover and vaulting over walls.

The brief teaser also revealed the Tsaritsa’s voice, Pulcinella’s in-game model, the gorgeous, snowy scenery of Slavic-inspired Snezhnaya (try saying that three times fast), and two cool new enemies. Well, the walking tree is cool, I’d prefer it if the demented bunny in a Santa costume would stay buried in the snow. You can read more about this teaser in our dedicated Genshin Impact Snezhnaya trailer breakdown. WARNING: Contains an image of said demented bunny. Click at your own risk.

Hatsune Miku is coming to Persona 5: The Phantom X

The anniversary character for Person 5: The Phantom X is Hatsune Miku this year. Not, you know, a character from the Persona games. Except she technically is, as Hatsune Miku is sporting her Persona 4: Dancing All Night design. The blue-haired Vocaloid is also bringing a music rhythm-game with her. Which, basic as it is, I’m looking forward to. Wherever Hatsune Miku goes, a banger soundtrack is sure to follow.

Hatsune Miku is a five-star support Elucidator, and the patch that adds her goes live on June 24 across all servers.

Wuthering Waves reveals six new characters, Yangyang gets the five-star treatment

Wuthering Waves has had a busy few months. Second year anniversary celebrations ran throughout the 3.3 patch, then it concluded its main story in La-Haori alongside its excellent Cyberpunk: Edgerunners collab in version 3.4. And now, Wuthering Waves has took to social media to reveal six upcoming characters:

  • Yangyang: Xuanling
  • Suisui
  • Suoming
  • Jingran
  • Qingxiao
  • Hsin

You can check out all their designs in our dedicated post on Wuthering Waves’ six new characters, which includes a five-star version of Yangyang.

Chainsaw Man mobile game revealed

Chainsaw Man gets its first proper game with MAPPA, and it’s almost certainly a gacha. So many animes have gone down this path before, I guess it was only a matter of time before Chainsaw Man got the same treatment. All we know about it right now is that it’s coming to both Japan and Global markets, and that Denji, Aki Hayakawa, and Power are all five-star characters. Lets all cross our fingers and toes that this one doesn’t go down the other anime adaptation gacha route and EoS on us in under two years…

Let me introduce you to Infinity Nikki’s Titty Committee

In response to developer Infold Games changing a dress to cover up Nikki’s “cleavage” after getting complaints from some Chinese players, the Infinity Nikki subreddit is posting pictures of other outfits that are far more revealing. A sort of protest, but more to show just how ridiculous pulling Nikki’s dress up a bit is for one outfit is, when there are so many more items that are more revealing. You can always count on the Infinity Nikki community to meme the life out of their issues with the game, and the self appointed “Titty Committee” have been doing just that since the outfit change happened on June 12.

However, in amongst all the boob pictures and jokes, players are also raising serious concerns about Infold changing outfits linked to gacha (and subsequently their money) after they’ve pulled for something. An inch raised on a dress now, but what might it change in the future?

Here’s the infamous scandalous dress before and after.

Aniimo releases seven minutes of new gameplay

Ahead of Aniimo’s upcoming third beta, it dropped a new gameplay showcase. In it, we see a mix of story, combat, exploration (as human and Aniimo), mini-games, and hoverboard traversal. You can check it out for yourself in the video above.

Could Xbox be making a gacha?

Three unannounced Xbox games were unearthed via a Linkedin job description for Rob Sheppard when he worked as an Executive Producer of Cloud Gaming: an online FPS, an ARPG, and a “Hero Collector MMO”.

Maybe I’m just too entrenched in gacha-land to read this as anything else, but collecting “Heroes” in an MMO sounds like a very good way to describe a gacha without calling it a gacha. Reading Sheppard’s Linkedin job description more, we can see that all three of these games are being developed by external, privately owned teams, and that production on this Hero Collector MMO would have started in 2023 at the very latest.

Who even knows if this game is still in production, let alone if it’s a gacha, but it would be interesting to see Xbox’s take on a modern 3D gacha.

The EoS zone

Here’s what we have in the EoS zone this week:

  • CounterSide will end service on August 26, 2026 in all regions. It launched in February 2020. However, developer StudioBside claims that this “isn’t the end of CounterSide’s story” as CounterSide is “planned to return in the form of a reboot project, following a period of reorganization and renewal.” You can read its full EoS post here.
  • Heads up that Closers ends service this week on June 24 for Global. The game will continue to run like normal in Korea, China, Taiwan and Japan. Closers has been running since 2017, which is pretty good innings for a gacha these days.
  • And another reminder that ASTRA: Knights of Veda ends service on June 26 for all regions.

  • June 17 – Velina and Pyrois, Zenless Zone Zero
  • June 18 – Ramon, Reverse: 1999
  • June 18 – Phenn, Octopath Traveler: CotC
